diffuser oils

When you need a little boost in mood or support for common ailments, reaching for an aroma diffuser and adding some of the right oils to your home can offer immediate relief. Unlike candles, oil diffusers release cleansing molecules that work to purify the air and don’t overload it with dangerous chemicals. They’re also convenient to use and more versatile than bottled oils that are usually diluted with a carrier oil to make them easier to inhale.

Diffusing essential oils can help battle unwanted germs, ease respiratory issues and even alleviate sleeplessness. Choosing the right blend is key. To keep a healthy digestive tract and lungs, try a mixture of peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus, lemon, cypress, frankincense, thyme, myrtle and laurel leaf. You can also try a natural bug repellent with a combination of citronella, lemongrass and lavender.

The same oils that help you breathe can also help ease muscle tension and soreness, making them ideal for those with a hectic day-to-day schedule who are experiencing achy joints or a sore back after a hard workout. Add a few drops of an oil like chamomile, helichrysum, ylang-ylang or bergamot to your aroma diffuser and inhale the soothing scent to ease your mind and body.

Inhaling aromas that are uplifting and soothing can help you relax, which is key for getting a restful night’s sleep. Diffusing a soothing blend like a mix of lavender, Bulgarian rose and Roman chamomile, or a geranium, frankincense and mandarin essential oil blend can help you wind down before bed.

Some of the same oil blends that help with sleep and digestion can also ease stress and anxiety, which is often exacerbated by a busy lifestyle. Add a few drops of a calming oil like helichrysum, ylang-ylang, bergamot or laurel leaf to your diffuser and inhale the soothing scents to calm an anxious mind.

Aromatherapy can also aid in reducing achy, itchy skin and toenails, and promote healthy-looking hair and nails. A few drops of a soothing oil like chamomile, helichrysum, or ylang-ylang in your aroma diffuser can calm the symptoms of a minor skin condition and leave you feeling refreshed. You can also try a nourishing body oil, like a blend of shea butter and coconut oil, to soothe dry skin and lock in moisture.
